I agree with you on this! It seems almost as impossible to eliminate the halo effect. But I think that the most we can do is read more self-enriching books and constantly educate ourselves so that we will be able to think clearer and thus, can avoid making many irrational decisions. :)

I personally feel that breaking someone’s heart is worse than faking my resume. Although either of these two things are not morally right, I would be more okay with slightly faking my resume. Let’s say I got the job; I could learn, improve myself and make up for my lack of required competence and skills. In a sense, I would put in so much effort and motivation. But I wouldn’t want to break someone’s heart (especially if that person genuinely cared our me) because I wouldn’t want to hurt other’s feelings just like I wouldn’t want mine to be hurt.
